Learn about the basics of databases in Speare

Updated over a week ago

A database is a powerful tool for organizing pages, notes, to-dos, projects, and more.

What kinds of data can I put into a database?

Here's a list of the data types that you can currently put into a Speare database:

  1. Pages — Currently, pages are the only resource that you can add to a database.

  2. Text — Text is just text.

  3. Single select — This allows you to apply a single tag to a cell in a database.

  4. Multiple select — This allows you to apply multiple tags to a cell in a database.

Grouping

Grouping allows you to organize rows in a database into separate groups based off of “single” and “multiple select” fields.

Filtering

Filtering allows you to filter out content within a database based off of filtering rules that you specify.

Sorting

Sorting allows you to sort the content in your database based off of the tags that you add to your database.

In the image above, the recipes in the database are being sorted according to the "Rating" tags.

Searching

Coming soon: Searching is not available yet but is coming soon.

Can I add the same page to multiple databases?

Yes. You can add the same exact page to as many databases as you want. This gives you the organizational flexibility to organize your content in multiple ways.
