A workspace is a place to store, organize, and work with content in Speare. They're great for working on projects and creating knowledge bases.
Understanding the Basic Elements of a Workspace
There a few basic elements that every workspace has which includes the following:
1. The Workspace Title
This tells you what workspace you're currently in.
2. The Sidebar
The sidebar is where you store and organize the content within a workspace. It also gives you access to your favorites which are available in any workspace.
The sidebar is divided into the following three sections:
Favorites — The favorites section is where you can store resources (including workspaces) that you want to have access to from any workspace.
Workspace Bin — This is where you can organize the content within a workspace using folders.
Landing Zone — The Landing Zone is where you can create resources in a workspace. It's also where new content is initially added when you create or import content into a workspace.
3. The Work Area
The work area is where you can view and edit content.
How to Create a Workspace
Click on the home button on the app bar to open the home panel.
Click on the workspace's tab on the home panel.
Then click the “New workspace” button.
How to Rename a Workspace
There are two ways to rename a workspace.
Method 1 — Edit the Title of the Workspace on the App Bar
Click on the title of the workspace in the middle of the app bar.
Rename the workspace and press
Enter
to confirm the change.
Method 2 — Edit the Title of Workspaces in the Workspace's List
Click on the home button on the app bar to open the home panel.
Click on the workspace's tab on the home panel.
Hover over the workspace that you want to rename in the workspace's list.
While hovering, click on the pencil icon that appears.
Rename the workspace and press
Enter
to confirm the change.
How to Create Resources in a Workspace
There are two primary ways to create resource in a workspace.
Method 1 — Create Resources via the Sidebar
Click on any of the “New” buttons on the Landing Zone control bar to create a new page, stack, database, or board.
Method 2 — Create Resources via the Home Panel
Click the home button on the app bar to open the home panel.
Select the tab on the home panel for the resource type that you want to create.
Click on the “New” button.
How to Import Resources to a Workspace
Here are the two main ways to import content to a workspace in Speare:
Method 1 — Import Resources from the Home Panel
Click on any page, stack, database, or board in the home panel to add it to the Landing Zone of the workspace you're currently in.
Method 2 — Import Resources from the Search Popup
Click on a page, stack, database, or board in the search popup to add it to the Landing Zone of the workspace you're currently in.
Pro tip: You can drag and drop resources from the Search Popup or the Home Panel to place them exactly where you want in the Sidebar.
Store the Same Resource in Multiple Workspaces
One of the great things about workspaces is that you can store the exact same resource (e.g., a page, stack, database, or board) in as many workspaces as you want. This gives you the freedom to organize the same content in multiple ways.
Split Screens
Split screens allow you to view and edit multiple resources side-by-side in a workspace, and you can have as many of them in a workspace as you want, allowing you to switch between split screens quickly and easily.
