The Sidebar

Access your favorites & organize the content within the current workspaces

Updated over a week ago

The sidebar is the panel on the left side of the app. The sidebar is where you can access your favorites as well as the Workspace Bin and the Landing Zone of the workspace you're currently in.

Favorites, the Workspace Bin, and the Landing Zone

The sidebar is divided into the following three sections:

  1. Favorites β€” The favorites section is where you can store resources (including workspaces) that you want to have access to from any workspace.

  2. Workspace Bin β€” This is where you can organize the content within a workspace using folders. Resources can only be added to the workspace bin by drag and drop.

  3. Landing Zone β€” The Landing Zone is where you can create resources in a workspace. It's also where new content is initially added when you create or import content into a workspace.

Understanding the Workspace Portion of the Sidebar

What part of the sidebar is related to the current workspace?

The two sections of the sidebar that pertain to the current workspace are the workspace bin and the landing zone. When you navigate from one workspace to another, this section of the sidebar will change to reflect the contents of the workspace you navigated to.

Why is the workspace portion of the sidebar divided into two different sections?

This is to help you keep the content of the workspace organized. Whenever you click on a resource such as a page, stack, database, or board in the home panel or search popup, it gets added to the landing zone of the current workspace. If the landing zone and the workspace bin were combined, your system of organization in the workspace bin would become cluttered unnecessarily every time you opened a resource from home panel or search popup.

How to Move Resources in the Sidebar

To move a resource from one section of the sidebar to another, click and drag the item to the location you want to place it in.

Some Rules of the Sidebar

  • Workspaces can only be added to the favorites section of the sidebar.

  • Folders and split screens cannot be added to the favorites section of the sidebar.

Hiding & Reopening the Sidebar
